Oleksandr Vasyliovych Palahin, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Associate of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 1984 Deputy Director on scientific research of Glushkov Cybernetics Institute.

Scientific and practical activities performed by Alexander Palahin relate to the development of theory and creation of universal and specialized computer systems. The scope of his activities includes development of scientific and guidance basis for creating intellectual information systems on information and cognitive support for scientific research in the field of intellectual networks and mass information service systems based on a new class of IT means, i.e. 'electronic combines', computer systems with virtual architecture, system integration technology within the framework of research design, etc.

Mr. Palahin has published 281 scientific works including 8 monographs; he has 79 utility patents.

Mr. Palahin was awarded several state rewards: Honours Order and two medals; was awarded the title of Honoured Inventor of Ukrainian SSR; he also won the O.S. Lebedev's prize of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and other awards.
