July 01, 2004. Kiev.
Joint meeting of "Committee of Ukrainian Parliament for Science and Education" and "Advisory Council for Informatization at Parliament of Ukraine".
Agenda. About strategy of development of information society and knowledge-based society in Ukraine. Speakers: Dr. Michael Zgurovsky - Rector of National Technical University of Ukraine "Kiev Polytechnic Institute"; Dr. Ivan Serhiyenko - Head of Informatics Department of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Dr. Volodymyr Grytsenko - Director of International Scientific-Educational Centre for Information Technology and Systems at UNESCO, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Resolution. "Committee of Ukrainian Parliament for Science and Education" and "Advisory Council for Informatization at Parliament of Ukraine", having heard an information about strategy of development of information society and knowledge-based society in Ukraine, have approved:
1. to take into account an information about legislative support of informatization for the periods of the Fourth (September - December, 2003) and the Fifth Sessions (February - June, 2004) of Ukrainian Parliament.
2. to support the initiative of "Ukrainian Federation of Informatics" on organization of the open project "The Strategy of Development of Information Society and Knowledge-Based Society in Ukraine".
to recommend to "Ukrainian Federation of Informatics":
a) to ensure an open public discussion of materials and documents of the Project, primarily in Internet, to popularize the perspectives of development of information society in Ukraine and to ensure the proposals integration;
b) to prepare for consideration on public hearings in the Committee during November - December, 2004 the appropriate materials and documents of the open project "The Strategy of Development of Information Society and Knowledge-based Society in Ukraine".
3. guided by the articles 8 and 31 of "the Law of Ukraine on Committees of Parliament" to establish a working group on recommendations preparation for legislative support of the development of information society and knowledge-based society in Ukraine and to approve the structure of working group; to nominate Dr.M.K.Rodionov, people's deputy, for a head of working group.
4. with purpose of support to Parliament in development of policy in the sphere of informatization with consideration of the latest achievements and technological solutions, the "Advisory Council on Informatization at Ukrainian Parliament" (Dr.M.Z.Zgurovsky) takes an active part in work on recommendations and proposals preparation for legislative support of development of information society and knowledge-based society in Ukraine and participates in realization of the open project "The Strategy of Development for Information Society and Knowledge-Based Society in Ukraine".
5. the Committee of Parliament on Science and Education along with Advisory Council on Informatization at Parliament will conduct the public hearings in the Committee during November - December, 2004 where they consider the recommendations and proposals for legislative support of development of information society and knowledge-based society in Ukraine as well as the materials of the open project "The Strategy of Development of Information Society and Knowledge-Based Society in Ukraine".

June 16, 2004. Kiev. Extended Meeting of UFI Presidium. The Extended Presidium members decided to establish an initiative group for preparation of the open project "Strategy of Development of Information Society and Knowledge-Based Society" inviting all interested legal entities and persons for cooperation with UFI.

June 03, 2004. Kiev. Meeting of UFI executives with Prof.Dr. Heinrich C. Mayr (GI former President). The participants discussed the perspectives of further cooperation between UFI, GI and CEPIS. As a result of exchange of views there was decided to prepare and sign the cooperation agreement between UFI and GI.

April 24, 2004. Old Windsor (UK). Meeting of CEPIS-Council and Executive Committee members, where Ukrainian Federation of Informatics was granted CEPIS membership.

March 26, 2004. Kiev. Meeting of UFI founders. The UFI membership applications from representatives of "Gesellschaft fuer Informatik" (Germany) Prof.Dr. Heinrich C. Mayr (GI former President) and Mr. Joerg Maas (GI executive director) were approved for the UFI membership.

February 18, 2004. Kiev. Meeting of UFI executives with representatives from "Gesellschaft fuer Informatik" (Germany). The aim of the meeting was to prepare the arrangements for scientific, business and public cooperation between two organizations. The Parties have signed a memorandum for cooperation and mutual support.

December 23, 2003. Kiev. EuroOsvita center took the first ECDL tests in Ukraine. All interested are welcome to the EuroOsvita center. Address: Kyiv, Peremogy prospect 37, 6th building of "KPI" office 203. Web address is http://www.euroosvita.net.

November 13, 2003. Kiev. The UFI Annual Meeting. Decisions: in accordance with the UFI constitution 30% rotation of the Council of Federation and its governing bodies was carried out. Academician Ivan Serhiyenko was elected the UFI President for next five years. Corresponding Member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Alexander Palagin and Academician of NASU Michael Zgurovsky were elected vice presidents. The responsibilities of the vice presidents were divided as follows: A.Palagin - organizational and financial issues. M.Zgurovsky - educational and research programs, international cooperation, interactions with international organizations and governmental institutions in Ukraine. Amendments and additions to the constitution have been introduced in connection with changes in the Ukrainian legislature during the last five years and taking into account the GI constitution. The issue of joining CEPIS was considered and the corresponding decision taken.
